中学生の頃、映画「Blues Brothers 2000」が公開されたことをきっかけにBlues Brothersの存在を知った。こちらのレコードは、お店でレコード漁りをしていた際に偶然見つけて購入した。

音源は映画「Blues Brothers」の劇中で行われたライブ音源を収録したものと思われる（レコードが古すぎるため、購入時点で帯も歌詞カードも入っていなかったため、上記のクレジット以外の情報はない）。2000年代、ローリン・ヒルや宇多田ヒカルなどの「R&B」というジャンルの音楽が流行ったが（そちらも好きだが）、僕にとっての「Rhythm & Blues」はこのレコードに収録されているような、ブラスが鳴り響き、ピアノが弾むように鳴り、決して歌唱力があるとは言えないがとにかくノリのいい音楽だと中高生当時周りの友人に主張して聞き流された思い出がある。

Steve Jordan

ドラマーとしてSteve Jordanがクレジットされていることには驚いた。

Steve Jordanは、僕が愛聴している奥田民生のソロ初期のアルバムに参加、その後「The Verbs」というバンドで活動していたことで知っている。

改めて調べてみたところ、The Rolling Stonesの2021年8月死去したチャーリー・ワッツに代わって参加しているらしい。
